Patience in Concert at Canongate Kirk

Canongate Kirk
In March 2020, the Edinburgh Gilbert and Sullivan Society were required to cancel performances of “Patience” in the King’s Theatre Edinburgh. However, rather than let all that hard work go to waste, we are pleased to present a concert version of Gilbert and Sullivan’s witty masterpiece, with full orchestra, about the Aesthetic Movement of the 1880s.
With willowy youths, sighing maidens, hearty milkmaids and burly officers galore, it tells the story of two rival poets and the superficiality of the women who blindly adore them even although they’re engaged to the burly officers. Every tune is memorable and the humour as fresh as it was at the first performance! There’s even a Duke who wishes to, or should, step back from his Royal duties and disappear into obscurity!
